The Tennessee Association of Independent Schools (TAIS) has announced its recommendation of the American GOAL Scholarship Program as a preferred Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO) for independent schools preparing to participate in the new Federal Scholarship Tax Credit Program, which is scheduled to begin January 1, 2027.

As schools across the country prepare for implementation of the new federal scholarship program, TAIS evaluated how it could best support its member schools. Following a comprehensive review of SGO options, TAIS chose to recommend American GOAL to its member schools.

“We are honored that the Tennessee Association of Independent Schools has chosen to recommend American GOAL,” said Ben Saylor, President and CEO of GOAL Scholarship Program, Inc. “TAIS has long been a champion for excellence in independent education, and we are grateful for the opportunity to serve as a trusted resource for its member schools as they prepare for this exciting new federal scholarship program.”

American GOAL is modeled after the highly successful GOAL Scholarship Program in Georgia, which has spent the past 18 years helping schools maximize scholarship funding through exceptional service, proven fundraising expertise, and sound program administration. During that time, GOAL has facilitated more than $558 million in scholarship contributions and awarded more than 94,000 scholarships, helping families choose the K-12 educational environment that best meets their children's needs.

Through American GOAL, schools receive a comprehensive solution for administering the federal scholarship program, including donor support, compliance, scholarship administration, marketing resources, and ongoing service from a team with nearly two decades of experience operating one of the nation's most successful scholarship tax credit programs.

Sarah Wilson, Executive Director of the Tennessee Association of Independent Schools explained the association’s decision to recommend American GOAL to its schools noting that “as TAIS has surveyed the SGO landscape, several priorities have guided our conversations with and assessments of SGOs: experience, mission alignment with our schools, fidelity to Treasury guidelines, and transparency. American GOAL exceeded our expectations in terms of these identified priorities. Moreover, we wanted to partner with an SGO that could provide key support to our membership through education and policy updates. We are confident that American GOAL will be essential for our schools as they make decisions about and navigate the federal scholarship tax credit program, whether they choose to participate in the program or not.”
